According to news reports in Ohio and Pennsylvania, an Ohio truck driver was involved in a major truck accident involving nine tractor trailers and a pick-up truck over the weekend. Reports detail that the multi-vehicle crash occurred around 9:26 a.m. Saturday on Interstate 80 at mile marker 103.4 in Pennsylvania. As a result of the truck accident, the busy westbound roadway was closed for most of the day. Police reported that the truck accident occurred when the truck driver from Ohio jackknifed during whiteout conditions causing the other nine vehicles to collide with his truck and each other. Most of the individuals involved in the crash did not sustain any injuries. Only a few sustained minor injuries.
As a result of the truck accident, Interstate 80 was closed for nearly 9 hours following the crash. Authorities established a detour, sending vehicles off the interstate at exit 111 to state Route 153 north to SR 255 south then to exit 101. The detour reportedly moved very slowly due to the amount of traffic.
“Police were assisted at the scene by the state Department of Transportation, Oklahoma Fire Department, Penfield Fire Co., DuSan Ambulance Service, Clearfield Ambulance, the Clear-field-Jefferson Chapter American Red Cross, Full-ington Bus Co. and multiple towing companies.”
