News reports are calling one woman “extremely lucky” after her vehicle was sideswiped yesterday by two tanker trucks on Ohio Interstate 122 between Hart and Springboro roads in Clearcreek Twp. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the truck accident occurred when the woman was driving her Ford Thunderbird west on Ohio 122 around 6:40 a.m. yesterday and attempted to pass a tanker truck transporting LP gas in a no-passing zone.
When the woman attempted to pass the westbound tanker truck, another tanker truck headed east appeared in front of the woman. Reports detail that the woman attempted to get back into her own lane, which was now occupied by the westbound tanker truck she attempted to pass.
As a result, the woman ended up sideswiping the tanker truck and was struck by the other eastbound tanker truck. Police explained that the woman’s vehicle was completely destroyed and that the woman was very lucky to be alive.
Following the truck accident, the woman was taken to Atrium Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries and was later released. She was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the truck accident.
The truck accident is still under investigation but the woman has been cited with passing in a no passing zone. The eastbound tanker truck carrying LP gas was not damaged and the gas was off-loaded to another truck following the crash. The other truck had to be pulled out of the ditch on the side of the road which caused Ohio 122 to be closed as crews attempted to pull out the tanker.
